Vision + Language Model Technology Gains Recognition in Defense Sector
IntelliVIX, a company specializing in image analysis artificial intelligence (AI), won the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award at the 2025 Asian AI Awards, held on the 18th at the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul.
Of its 158 employees, approximately 70% are AI engineers. Having focused on AI research and development for 25 years, the company has developed 100% of its core technologies domestically. At the awards ceremony, IntelliVIX was recognized for applying innovative technologies through the development and commercialization of its Generative AI-based monitoring platform, Gen AMS (Generative AI Monitoring System).
Gen AMS functions as an “integrated AI monitoring agent” that not only detects and alerts various risk factors in cities and industrial sites—such as fires, falls, and traffic accidents—in real time, but also automatically generates summarized situation reports. Through this capability, it has been evaluated as overcoming the limitations of conventional visual monitoring and establishing a foundation for AI to autonomously handle the entire process from detection and alerting to result summarization.
IntelliVIX has deployed its AI monitoring solutions to 68.5% of local governments nationwide and has also applied them across various industrial sites to prevent fires and explosions and enhance overall safety management.
The company’s proprietary Vision Language Model (VLM) technology, which combines visual information with language models, was recognized through its selection as one of the Defense Innovation Companies 100 by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, highlighting its competitiveness in the defense sector. Conventional cameras face limitations in maintaining visibility under adverse conditions such as fog, sea fog, snow, and rain, while infrared (IR) equipment is primarily optimized for nighttime use, creating surveillance gaps during severe weather.
IntelliVIX addressed these challenges by adopting a pulsed light imaging method that filters out scattered light and captures only reflected signals. This approach enables the acquisition of clear images even in harsh weather conditions, supporting all-weather monitoring to protect GOP barbed-wire fences and coastal outposts.
At the same time, IntelliVIX has contributed to expanding the SME-centered AI industry ecosystem by leading the establishment of an AI business cooperative in central and southern Seoul to promote technological co-prosperity. The company has also strengthened regional AI industry development through the establishment of its Gyeongnam branch.
