Korea's First AI Cooperative Launched…Helping SMEs Transition to AI
The Seoul Central-Southern AI Business Cooperative announced on the 12th that it had held its first regular general meeting and officially launched. Choi Eun-soo, CEO of Intellivix, was appointed as the inaugural chairman.
The AI Cooperative held its founding general meeting in August last year, received establishment approval from the Korea Federation of SMEs on October 2, and completed its corporate registration on December 12.
The AI Cooperative aims to develop industrial AI tailored for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to enhance their operational efficiency and productivity. Specifically, it plans to:
- Jointly develop and distribute AI technology
- Provide AI transformation consulting
- Conduct joint procurement and establish shared facilities
- Offer AI education and information
- Build an AI-based governance system
- Support the integration of AI technology into existing business cooperatives
Following the general meeting, the cooperative, in collaboration with the Korea Federation of SMEs, held a forum to discuss AI industry regulations and challenges. Through this discussion, the AI Cooperative and the Korea Federation of SMEs agreed to promote various support measures, such as establishing AI data centers and jointly operating facilities among cooperative members, to accelerate AI adoption in SMEs.
Choi Eun-soo, Chairman of the AI Cooperative, stated, “Most SMEs struggle with AI adoption due to a lack of specialized talent and technological challenges. The AI Cooperative will act as a bridge between AI technology companies and traditional SMEs, supporting their digital transformation.”
