IntelliVIX’s Choi Joon-ho Honored with Ministerial Award for AI Crowd Accident Prevention Technology

 IntelliVIX (CEOs Choi Eun-soo and Jang Jung-hoon), a video analysis AI company, announced on the 21st that Choi Joon-ho, Head of the Research Institute, received the 2025 Korea Disaster Safety Research and Development Award in the category of the Minister of Public Administration and Security Award on the 17th.

The Korea Disaster Safety Research and Development Awards have been presented annually since 2019 to enhance the pride of researchers in the disaster and safety management field and to promote the advancement of related technologies.

The award recognizes the achievements of the “high-reliability crowd accident risk analysis and evaluation technology using CCTV and drone imagery,” led by Choi Joon-ho. This technology analyzes crowd density and movement flow, displays risk information in real time on monitoring screens, and supports effective prevention and response to crowd-related accidents.

The research team classified crowd density into five levels using AI-based object detection and tracking technologies and visualized crowd flow through GIS by integrating CCTV and drone image data. In particular, the technology was highly evaluated for its modular integration with existing local government control systems, enabling integrated operations by control personnel without the need for additional dedicated staff.

The technology has been verified in Busanjin-gu and Haeundae-gu in Busan, as well as Eunpyeong-gu in Seoul. Demonstrations and pilot operations were conducted across major autonomous districts in Seoul to validate field applicability. It has been assessed as effective in establishing a proactive crowd accident response system through real-time alerts and detection of changes in crowd flow.

Choi Joon-ho, Head of the Research Institute, stated, “This award recognizes our continuous research and development efforts and the results of field-oriented technology validation. We will continue to advance disaster safety through reliable video analysis technology.”
