FUNZIN Receives Minister of National Defense Commendation and DAPA R&D Encouragement Award

The Minister of National Defense Recognizes FUNZIN’s ‘KWM-Ocelot’ Technology Based on an AI Command Decision Support System

Receives the 2025 R&D Encouragement Award, Acknowledging Excellence in AI-Based Battlefield Adaptive Decision-Making

[Central Economy News | Reporter Song Tae-won] FUNZIN announced on the 10th that it received a commendation from the Minister of National Defense at the 2025 Drone Industry Merit Awards held at COEX in Seoul on the 9th, as well as the 2025 R&D Encouragement Award from the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) on the same day.

The Minister of National Defense commendation is awarded to individuals and organizations that have contributed to the advancement of the drone industry and defense R&D. FUNZIN was recognized for the technological excellence of its KWM-Ocelot, an AI-based electromagnetic spectrum reconnaissance drone system developed using its proprietary AI Command Decision Support System “Kill-Web Matching (KWM)” technology.

KWM-Ocelot uses AI to detect, analyze, and identify enemy communication signals in complex electromagnetic environments, while autonomously allocating reconnaissance missions to drones in real time according to battlefield conditions. The technology was showcased at the Army Artificial Intelligence Idea Contest in May, where it was highlighted as a key component of next-generation drone warfare and one of the core technologies of the large-scale KWM Series.

With this latest recognition, FUNZIN has completed a rare record of multi-ministerial commendations, having previously received awards from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Minister of Science and ICT, and the Minister of SMEs and Startups, and now the Minister of National Defense. This achievement once again validates FUNZIN’s position as a leading company in the field of defense AI technology.

In addition, FUNZIN received the 2025 Defense R&D Encouragement Award from DAPA for its development of an AI-based battlefield adaptive decision-making support system. The award, presented annually under Article 15 of the Defense Science and Technology Innovation Promotion Act, honors outstanding researchers and organizations that achieve excellence in defense R&D.

In February, FUNZIN applied for a grant review based on its work on the AI-based battlefield adaptive decision-making support system, and this recognition further affirms its contribution to advancing command decision technologies for future battlefield operations.

“This award goes beyond a technical milestone — it is proof that FUNZIN is reshaping the paradigm of defense AI,” said Kim Deuk-hwa, CEO of FUNZIN. “We will continue to lead innovation in the defense R&D ecosystem through our KWM Series technologies, which can be integrated across diverse systems such as drones, robots, and electronic warfare platforms.”
