FUNZIN Named a 'Military Designated Company'...Accelerating National Defense AI Talent Acquisition

The enterprise-affiliated research institute and independent defense AI technology capabilities were selected.

FUNZIN (CEO Kim Deuk-hwa), a leading defense AI company selected for its corporate research institute and independent defense AI technology capabilities, announced on the 9th that it had been selected as a "military service-designated research institute in the first half of 2025."

The military service-designated company system is a designation by the head of the Military Manpower Administration to support the development of the national industry and strengthen technological competitiveness. This system allows military service obligators to serve as research, manufacturing, and production personnel at designated companies instead of serving in the military. FUNZIN has continuously strengthened its R&D capabilities based on its corporate-affiliated research institute, certified by the Ministry of Science and ICT in 2011. Its selection was based on its proprietary technology, including "Kill Web Matching (KWM)," an AI-based defense solution. In particular, "Kill Web Matching" is a solution that proposes the optimal means of attack through real-time information analysis, drawing attention as a game-changer for the future battlefield.

With its selection as a military service-designated company, FUNZIN plans to secure excellent human resources in the fields of defense and AI in a stable manner and accelerate the establishment of a long-term human resources training system. In fact, it signed a joint research agreement with Kwangwoon University on defense AI in February and is fully supporting its executives and employees in acquiring academic, master's, and doctoral degrees. The company also covers the costs of obtaining certificates and congratulations and operates various systems to cultivate human resources.

Field-oriented education programs are also being actively developed. In April, FUNZIN participated in the "K-AI Day" seminar hosted by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to share future aerospace software technology and development directions. It also actively participated in the recently concluded "WIS 2025" exhibition, where executives and employees personally operated booths to communicate with customers and showcase their technology.

"As the foundation for securing talent has been further strengthened with our selection as a military service-designated company, we will make a leap forward as a leading company with global competitiveness in defense and AI," said CEO Kim Deuk-hwa. "We will continue to expand investment to cultivate excellent talent."

Meanwhile, based on its solid technology development infrastructure, FUNZIN is solidifying its position in the AI market by winning awards from the ▲ Ministry of Science and ICT ▲ Ministry of SMEs and Startups ▲ Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy in 2024.
