Virnect (CEO Ha Tae-jin), an industrial extended reality (XR) and artificial intelligence (AI) solution company, announced on the 23rd that it will enter the 'Physical AI' market based on the performance of its AI goggles, 'VisionX.'
Physical AI is a technology that enables autonomous operation in the real world by applying existing intelligent software (SW) technology to physical devices such as robots. It has recently emerged as a key trend in the global manufacturing and logistics industries.
The company has been developing vision AI technology-based XR and digital twin solutions and won the Innovation Award for its industrial AI goggle, VisionX, at the world’s largest information technology (IT) and home appliance exhibition, CES 2025, held in January.
Until now, Virnect has optimized its technology to understand and utilize visual data from industrial sites and has accumulated results in various industrial environments. It released the industrial AI goggle VisionX, which integrates interactive AI and AI agent technology to process workers’ voice and visual information in real time. The company has now started expanding into industrial robot intelligence, focusing on the physical AI field that enables the real-world expansion of AI technology.
Virnect is planning to start mass production of VisionX in the third quarter of this year. It will enter the industrial robot field with a focus on physical AI and expand related businesses.
Over the past five years, more than 15 projects related to robots based on XR and digital twins have been carried out. The company has also begun developing AI software for robots. With vision AI, it plans to implement practical autonomy and collaboration capabilities for industrial robots by organically combining environmental awareness, an interactive AI-based interface, and autonomous judgment functions through agent-type AI.
"We want to connect AI technology to reality and expand it from the human eye to the robot’s eyes and brain," a Virnect official said. "Based on our accumulated XR, digital twin, and AI technologies, we will also create new standards in the robot field."
