Korea's First AI Stadium System: Superb AI and KT Launch Real-Time Congestion Analysis
Real-time analysis of CCTV footage from over 50 cameras – Enhancing audience safety through visualized crowd density by area
Edge AI-based ultra-low latency system delivers real-time insights via web dashboard and integrated display boards
Expanding public sector adoption of AI through collaboration with KT – Plans to scale to large cultural venues
Superb AI (CEO Kim Hyun-soo), a company specializing in vision AI technology, has partnered with KT to develop Korea's first AI-powered real-time crowd density analysis system at Suwon KT Wiz Park. This initiative, part of the “KT AI Stadium” project launched alongside KT’s new AI brand, marks the first application of real-time AI crowd analysis in a professional sports stadium in Korea.
Launched with the 2025 KBO League season opener, the system analyzes CCTV footage from over 50 cameras across the stadium to accurately measure crowd density in real time. This data is then converted into zone-based visual congestion maps displayed on scoreboards and administrator dashboards. Each area’s congestion level is color-coded—green (spacious), yellow (moderate), and red (crowded)—to help ensure safe movement and efficient crowd control.
Superb AI applied its proprietary vision AI algorithm to this system, demonstrating its practical value in the sports entertainment field. Leveraging Edge AI technology, the system achieves ultra-low latency and enhanced security compared to cloud-based alternatives. The AI models are optimized specifically for stadium environments, allowing for flexible adaptation to diverse real-world scenarios.
Each camera is configured with a precise Region of Interest (ROI), and congestion criteria are customized to reflect the unique characteristics and traffic patterns of different spectator areas. The system also includes an intuitive user interface for spectators and a web-based dashboard for administrators to monitor congestion at a glance.
Real-time congestion information is shown on the stadium scoreboard under the label “KT & Superb AI Real-time AI Analysis,” helping attendees avoid crowded zones and enjoy a safer, more comfortable viewing experience.
Kim Hyun-soo, CEO of Superb AI, stated, “This project is a meaningful milestone that proves our vision AI technology can deliver real value in public spaces closely tied to everyday life. Based on our collaboration with KT, we aim to expand into a variety of venues, including sports stadiums, large concert halls, and exhibition centers.”
Building on its experience at Suwon KT Wiz Park, Superb AI plans to further commercialize its real-time AI crowd analysis solution, contributing to smart city development and accelerating the digital transformation of urban infrastructure.
