VIRNECT: “Developing XR Technology Applicable Across All Industries”

“We are focusing on developing technologies that can be applied directly at industrial sites, such as verifying product quality using augmented reality technology. We expect these solutions to be used not only in specific industrial sectors but across the entire manufacturing industry.”

VIRNECT showcased its ambition as an extended reality (XR) company by opening an exhibition booth at the International Shipbuilding and Marine Industry Exhibition (KORMARINE) 2025 at BEXCO in Busan on the 21st.

Founded in 2016, VIRNECT is an industrial XR solution company specializing in AR-based technologies. It has launched products such as Remote, Content Viewer, View, Make—an XR content production tool—and Twin, a 3D monitoring solution for industrial sites. These tools support remote work instructions and collaboration through XR guides. After gaining attention during the post-COVID metaverse boom, the company was listed on the KOSDAQ in 2023 through the Technology Special Listing program.

At KORMARINE 2025, VIRNECT introduced Inspect, a vision inspection solution for quality management based on image artificial intelligence (Vision AI).

A VIRNECT official said, “Inspect is a vision inspection solution that can be used not only in shipbuilding but across various manufacturing industries. In the past, workers had to visually inspect finished products one by one, but this solution shortens inspection time and improves inspection quality.”

Compared to VIRNECT’s broader product lineup, Inspect is specialized for immediate use at manufacturing sites. While Remote, View, Make, and Twin support industrial digital transformation, their wide applicability can make actual deployment more complex. Inspect, on the other hand, can be introduced directly into the production process. The AI-based vision inspection market in Korea continues to grow each year.

Regarding VIRNECT’s earlier focus on larger categories such as 3D metaverse platforms, an official said, “We had to scale back the metaverse business because the market didn’t mature and sales were limited. We are now focusing more on technologies that can be used immediately at industrial sites and can generate revenue.”

Alongside Inspect, the company also presented Vision X, AI-powered smart safety glasses with voice control. Vision X—developed in-house by VIRNECT—was recognized as an Innovation Award winner at CES 2025. The device supports functions such as remote maintenance, AR-based manuals and 3D drawing overlays, construction quality inspection, real-time data monitoring, alerting, and real-time collaboration.

Although VIRNECT has mainly focused on software technologies, it is now expanding into the hardware market. Global companies such as Meta and Amazon lead the AR glasses sector, and Samsung Electronics recently joined the competition by unveiling its project, previously known as “Infinite” and now called Galaxy XR.

“Traditional devices were divided into VR viewing, AR viewing, and remote collaboration,” a company representative said. “Vision X integrates these capabilities into an all-in-one device. Because it is a specialized device rather than a mass-produced product, its price range is higher than Meta’s devices. Ideally, other companies would make the hardware and we would focus on software, but because AR device adoption is still low, we decided to release our own.”

“We are participating in KORMARINE 2025, but we are also taking part in ADEX, the aerospace and defense exhibition in Paju. The company is putting significant effort into the defense sector, and Vision X will be a major focus at ADEX,” the official said. “We hope to receive strong interest from visitors at both ADEX and KORMARINE.”
